The Ohio River is consistently one of the most polluted rivers in the nation. Communities along the Ohio River are investing hundreds of millions of dollars to restore its waterfront and attract people back downtown. In order to guarantee the public’s right to use and enjoy the Ohio River, pollution levels must be reduced and eliminated.
The Lower Ohio River Waterkeeper directly engages policymakers and polluters across state lines in both Kentucky and Indiana to fully enforce the Clean Water Act. Based in the Louisville region, we are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit and proud member of the Waterkeeper Alliance. The Lower Ohio River Waterkeeper connects people and communities to protect, restore, and enjoy the Ohio River and its watersheds.
